ABOUT THE PLAYHOUSE
OUR MISSION
Andy’s Summer Playhouse exists to provide a safe environment for children to experience and learn about all aspects of the performing arts, with the goal of creating innovative theater for the surrounding community. Andy’s emphasizes education and community building, encouraging all participants to explore their own creativity.
Andy’s affords children an opportunity to:
- Be responsible to and for something larger than themselves
- Create a viable work of art recognized by all ages
- Begin to understand the nature of creative self-expression
- Work with professional artists
- Develop a lifelong appreciation of the arts
The single, most important guiding principle is an unrelenting faith in the integrity, dignity and importance of children and their point of view.
Artistic Vision
Andy’s Summer Playhouse believes a young person’s mind is ever creating and embracing new ideas. As a children’s theater, it is our responsibility to not only nurture but also meet and challenge our participants’ ongoing creative energy. Andy’s does this by producing new work. Our original productions strive to encompass an amalgam of forward thinking artistic mediums including, but not limited to, multimedia, dance, puppetry, and music. By utilizing these various art forms within the spectrum of theater, we offer productions that can live outside of the box and thus be in step with a young person’s way of looking at the world while at the same time encouraging them to push forward to new exciting ideas.
